A Visit To The Voice Doctor

Sometimes, we need to take a closer look at your larynx - aka your voice box - to get a better idea of what's happening with your voice. While x-ray vision isn't a thing (yet...!), specialized voice doctors do have a way to let us see what's going on in there.

This kind of special voice doctor is called a laryngologist. That's the title for an Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) doctor who specializes in voice. A laryngologist has tons of experience looking at voices just like yours. They use a tiny camera to take pictures and record a video of your vocal folds in motion while you're speaking and singing.

It can feel helpful to know what to expect before your visit to the voice doctor. Follow along as Claire (age 7) goes for her voice assessment at Toronto's Sick Kids hospital voice clinic.
