You already know more than you think.
If you’ve ever felt stuck between your singing background and your clinical voice training - unsure how the pieces fit together, where your scope begins and ends, what singing voice rehabilitation actually looks like, or how to build real confidence helping singers -
this workshop is for you.
Who is this for?
- voice professionals eager to learn how to become a Singing Voice Specialist
- SLPs with singing backgrounds who want to work with singers more confidently
- voice clinicians who know techniques but struggle with application and clinical reasoning
- voice teachers curious about rehab/collaborative voice care
- voice professionals feeling overwhelmed by “not knowing what they don’t know”
- SLPs who want to know how to build a practice focused on the niche area of singing voice rehabilitation
- anyone who wants to bridge the gap between singing and clinical voice care
What you'll learn:
How to connect your singing background to your clinical voice skills so the pieces finally start fitting together more clearly
How the skills you developed as a singer or voice teacher can become powerful clinical tools when applied thoughtfully and ethically
How to start feeling like you don't need to know everything all at once before you’re “allowed” to work with singers
How experienced voice clinicians identify gaps in their training without spiralling into “I’ll never know enough”
How to expand your scope, referrals, and collaborative networks to become the expert resource that every singer in your area needs
How to stop second-guessing which techniques to use and start understanding WHY you’re choosing them
The foundational skills singers actually need from a voice clinician - beyond just knowing a handful of exercises or techniques
How to transform and adapt the exercises, instincts, and teaching tools you already use into more intentional rehab-focused clinical strategies
Practical next steps for building competence, confidence, and real-world experience without feeling like you need another degree before you begin
How to create a clear roadmap forward so you can get to the part where you're doing the work you love with singers who need you instead of feeling overwhelmed by “all the things"
Hi! I'm Melanie
and I'm incredibly passionate about
all things voice!
Melanie Tapson is a voice-specialized speech-language pathologist, professional singer, Singing Voice Specialist, educator, and mentor based in Toronto. A longtime performer and voice teacher herself, Melanie is passionate about helping clinicians bridge the gap between singing, voice science, and real-world clinical application - especially when working with singers and performers.
Alongside a busy private practice prioritizing the needs of performers of all kinds, Melanie also teaches Singing Voice Rehabilitation to graduate SLP students at the University of Toronto. She is well known for her warm, practical, slightly irreverent but very systems-based approach to voice care and mentorship, and often finds herself invited to speak at conferences and voice programs the world over.
Through her clinical work, teaching, and mentorship programs, Melanie helps voice professionals build confidence thoughtfully and ethically - without feeling like they need to know everything all at once.
You're not starting from zero.
These things all matter to singers:
- your pedagogy background
- your singer intuition
- your pattern recognition
- your ear
- your communication skills
- your lived singing experience
- your exercise toolbox
- your understanding of performer psychology
- your ability to speak a singer's language
Come get clear on your path forward to voice rehabilitation for singers. You're going to love it!
